A read about a teenage girl who wakes up in a hospital bed and cannot remember the last six weeks of her life, including the accident that killed her best friend–only what if the accident wasn’t an accident?
Eighteen-year-old Jill Charron wakes up in a hospital room, leg in a cast, stitches in her face and a big blank canvas where the last 6 weeks should be. She comes to discover she was involved in a fatal accident while on a school trip in Italy three days previous but was jetted home by her affluent father in order to receive quality care. Care that includes a lawyer. And a press team. Because maybe the accident…wasn’t an accident. Wondering not just what happened but what she did, Jill tries to piece together the events of the past six weeks before she loses her thin hold on her once-perfect life.

I have been on mystery/thriller kick lately and to say I was excited to start this book was an understatement. This book had it all – mystery, suspense, a hint of romance, so much tension!
Our story starts with our MC, Jill, waking up in a hospital bed with absolutely no memory of how she got there. In fact, she has no memory of the previous six weeks, including her trip to Italy. She wakes to also find out that her best friend, Simone, had been killed in a car accident and Jill had apparently been at the wheel. Was Jill truly responsible for her best friend’s death? Would she ever be able to regain her memories and discover the truth?
This book hooked me from page one. It is such a simple plot but it was very well delivered. I could not get enough of this book. I enjoyed reading Jill’s character and her struggle to regain her lost memories while healing from a severely broken leg. Jill had to relearn who she could trust again and if she could even trust the few spotty memories she had coming back. Sure, I doubted her character at times, I’d be crazy not to. I did not trust her parents for anything, or their lawyer. Both of the parents were rather nasty people, especially her Dad. Talk about a jerk! I liked nothing about him. He was so self centered and shallow that I felt bad for Jill. How could she trust her Dad to have her best interests at heart when he was doing so many things behind her back? The lawyer, Evan, felt like a sleazy piece of work.
The way in which the story was told was very creative. One chapter would be about Jill and what she was currently going through, while the next would be either transcripts from Italian Police about someone they interviewed, or blog posts swearing Jill was a heartless killer. I really believe it helped the reader form their own opinion as to whether Jill actually killed Simone or not.
This was such a fast paced story that I was sad when I had to close the book and do other things (like work!). I wanted to keep reading to find out what happened. There were so many twists and turns that it always kept me guessing. I was not ever bored, nor did I feel there were slow spots. I could tell that Jill was growing and maturing as the story went along. I feel she had to because she was facing being sent back to Italy to be arrest for murder. With the help of her rehabilitation team, she was able to hold herself together and do the best she could with the roadblocks facing her.
I absolutely recommend this book to everyone looking for a quick, fast paced thriller. I am so thankful to be a part of this book tour and really, really hope everyone has a chance to read this book!
