Review: I’ll Give You The Sun

 

 

Here I go again being the black sheep with a very popular and very loved story. I struggled with this one. I struggled to get through it because I had no idea what was going on and it made no sense to me.

I opted to include the Goodreads synopsis of this book because I could not tell you what it was about on my own. I know what it is supposed to be about but this story just did not make sense to me. The writing style did not appeal to me at all. I felt as if I was reading a full book of artistic metaphors. sigh It was just bloody confusing. The alternating POVs did not help anything. Noah talked in all metaphors and Jude was mad obsessive about unnecessary things.

I did not care for Jude or Noah, nor did I care what happened to them. They both were droaning on and most of the chapters were uncomfortable. I almost DNFd when Jude was in art class and had a realization that she had to carve in marble/stone and she wouldn’t rest until someone agreed to teach her how to carve in marble/stone. Are you serious?! Give me a break.

I’m not sure there is much more I can say about this book. The revel at the end was rather anticlimactic and kind of blah. It simply added to my overall feeling of being disappointed.
